What does a nephrologist do?
Nephrologists are physicians who care for the kidneys: chronic kidney disease, kidney effects of diabetes and high blood pressure, blood pressure that stays high despite treatment, kidney stones that keep recurring, protein or blood in the urine, and electrolyte problems. When kidney function declines far enough, they plan and manage dialysis and coordinate transplant evaluation.
